Leiden, 7 December 2022 – Kadans Science Partner today announced that Thermo Fisher Scientific will be part of Plus Ultra Leiden. The company will lease the 7th and 8th floors which will be equipped with both laboratories and office space. This will accommodate the continued growth of the organisation.
Thermo Fisher Scientific supports science by providing services and products that help customers around the world in their laboratories. Their Mission is to enable their customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer. Whether customers are accelerating life sciences research, solving complex analytical challenges, increasing productivity in their laboratories, improving patient health through diagnostics or the development and manufacture of life-changing therapies, Thermo Fisher supports them.
Thermo Fisher came to Leiden Bio Science Park 15 years ago. In recent years, it grew out of beyond its size at its current location. With the move, it now literally gets more space to grow further in Plus Ultra Leiden.
“Our new, state of the art, R&D facility in Leiden represents a significant milestone in Thermo Fisher’s $650 million capital investment to meet the evolving needs of our bioprocessing customers. This new facility will allow us to continue to grow our portfolio of novel affinity purification solutions leveraging our CaptureSelect™ technology to support our customers manufacturing life-changing biologics,” said Dr. Laurens Sierkstra, Senior Director, R&D at Thermo Fisher Scientific.
“We are delighted to welcome Thermo Fisher to Plus Ultra Leiden. With its vision on research & development, the company is a great addition, not only to the building but also to Kadans’ international network. Moreover, we feel it is important to be able to offer this innovative organisation a new location at the Leiden Bio Science Park. We look forward to facilitating their further growth”, said Rob van Overbeek, Commercial Development Manager of Kadans Science Partner.
Plus Ultra Leiden
Plus Ultra Leiden is the newest R&D and business centre at the Leiden Bio Science Park specifically focused on life sciences. The building was officially opened earlier this year by, among others, Ernst Kuipers, Minister of Health, Welfare and Sport. Plus Ultra Leiden is a development of Kadans Science Partner and offers innovative companies, such as scale-ups, the chance to grow at the Leiden Bio Science Park. The R&D business centre brings together a large group of entrepreneurial companies, start-ups and knowledge organisations.
In addition, Plus Ultra Leiden is part of the Kadans international network, which already connects 25 science parks and campuses in Europe. This further encourages cooperation between innovative companies, knowledge and educational institutions to work together for a better future.
