Kadans Science Partner and Shell Global Solutions International B.V. have signed a purchase agreement for Kessler Park in the Plaspoelpolder in Rijswijk, the Netherlands. This means expansion of the current network of knowledge-intensive locations for Kadans and development of a sustainable future for Kessler Park.
Kessler Park is known for its long history in technological development. In 1962 Shell* opened her research center at this location. In October 2017, Shell announced it will be leaving the center in Rijswijk. “We are happy to have found a buyer with a great vision for the future of our location. We have worked here for over 50 years and find it important to give our history there a suitable ending” says president-director of Shell Netherlands Marjan van Loon.
With 63,000 m2 of office and research spaces, Kessler Park forms a significant addition to the international portfolio of Kadans. “We believe in the power of inspiring buildings where innovation and business come together. Because of the long history of Shell in research at this location, Kessler Park is a unique contribution to our international network of campuses. We are excited to give the location new meaning, so the future at Kessler Park will continue to center around innovation and knowledge-sharing” says Chiel van Dijen, commercial director of Kadans Science Partner.
Currently, Kessler Park is partially used by TNO with an innovation center focusing on energy and sustainability. Kadans will use its experience in revitalizing campuses to focus on the accommodation and support of businesses and knowledge institutions and the creation of a lively ecosystem at the location in Rijswijk. Marjan van Loon: “The plan of Kadans best matches the vision of the covenant partners and Kadans has the right experience in operating such locations. We wish them good luck”.
