Arenberg Science Park becomes so important European link
Leuven, 28 April 2022 – Kadans Science Partner announced on 28 April the acquisition of Intarsia Vastgoed nv. This company operates the Intarsia building, which is part of the Arenberg Science Park. The takeover of Intarsia Vastgoed’s shares from former owner Van Roey family symbolises Kadans’ continued expansion in Belgium.
Kadans first expanded into Belgium in 2021 with the purchase of Watson & Crick Hill in Louvain-la-neuve, 30 kilometres from the Arenberg Science Park. The European developer and investor of science parks and university campuses aims to connect the two sites, as well as link to the international network. In this way, collaborations and innovations between Kadans’ already 24 campuses and science parks in Europe will be accelerated.
Innovation priority
Known for its knowledge-intensive focus, the Arenberg Science Park is adjacent to the highly regarded research centre Imec and KU Leuven’s Arenberg Campus. This campus mainly shines its light on biomedical sciences, humanities and social sciences as well as engineering. By acquiring Intarsia Vastgoed, Kadans aims to help support the development of the science park as well as increase its footprint in the highly innovative environment. Due to the nearby motorway, the science park is quickly accessible from major cities such as Ghent, Brussels and Antwerp.
The building itself, operated by Intarsia Vastgoed, consists of 5 floors with over 5,500 m2 of laboratory and office space. The building is fully leased on a long-term basis to organisations focusing on research and innovation. Due to its flexible layout with labs, pilot plants and offices for multiple innovative parties, the building fits within Kadans’ vision. The complex provides space for collaboration and meetings, something Kadans is strongly committed to within its network.
