A topping out celebration was held on Tuesday to mark reaching the highest point of the structural construction work of Plus Ultra II.
Many people gathered in the atrium of Plus Ultra to celebrate this milestone with Kadans Science Partner, (future) tenants, stakeholders and construction partners. The ceremony included speeches from Geert van Rumund (Mayor of Wageningen), Sebastiaan Berendse (Director Corporate Value at Wageningen University & Research) and Chris van Hoof (OnePlanet Research Center). All three parties jointly spoke about the unique cooperation between companies, organizations and start-ups that will find a place in Plus Ultra II, marking reaching the highest point within 6 months of construction as a milestone for Wageningen Campus. Following the speeches, the highest point was officially marked by the partners revealing a large banner at the construction site of Plus Ultra II.
After the ceremony, visitors were allowed to tour the construction site and seeing where future work spaces will become reality. Plus Ultra II follows the success of Plus Ultra, a BREEAM Excellent multi-tenant building at Wageningen Campus connecting innovative businesses in the field of nutrition, agriculture, sustainability and health. The new four level building will be physically connected with the Plus Ultra community through a skybridge, creating one vibrant environment. Plus Ultra II will be a meeting ground for start-ups, student challenges, R&D companies and knowledge organizations, just like Plus Ultra.
In addition to food and drinks, start-ups from StartLife also provided healthy bites to try out.
